Throughout her 18 year career, Tamara has worked with musicians to create performances that are artistic representations of this beautiful dance form, her authentic style of dance growing out of her love of music. These musicians include: “Xenos” (Macedonian Gypsy band), “Camoon”, “Drum Arabic” and “Hide and Sheik” (with Andy Busuttil), Adel Amin, Nasser Masri and “Muziz”. Her extensive performance experience includes Woodford Folk Festival 1995- 2006, BEMAC World Music Cafes and Cultivart concerts and functions for Arabic, Turkish and Greek communities in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Tamara currently dances and plays percussion with music and dance ensemble “Muziz”. Tamara is a respected teacher, combining her studies with master teachers from Egypt and the U.S.A. with her knowledge of music, Safe Dance practices and certification as a Pilates Instructor. Her teaching experience includes interstate specialised workshops, ongoing classes, festivals, corporate fitness programs and Brisbane's “Active and Healthy Parks” program. She is also involved in the “Cultural Infusion” program, bringing the art of belly dance and its related music to Queensland schools. In October 2001 Tamara was given the honour of working with International master musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek co-facilitating with Terezka Dzirnik at his Byron Bay workshops. She also continues to be a popular teacher at Woodford Folk Festival (2001-2007). Tamara is the founder of BAMEDAM (Balkan and Middle Eastern Dance and Music) Association, a non-profit organization, which hosts the annual camp “Bahar Bayram”.
